Both truck drivers told state troopers they got confused when they reached the intersection of U.S. 701, U.S. 301 and I-95. Both drivers were cited for commercial motor carrier violations.

In November, the same bridge was struck by a truck carrying an excavator. The impact damaged all four steel I-beams of the bridge, causing an estimated $250,000 in structural damage. Repairs to the bridge from that accident are still pending. The driver of the truck hauling the excavator was cited for several violations.
